AlphaSights

London-based AlphaSights wanted to bring a certain energy to their Midtown offices, one that could be felt immediately on entering their space. To communicate the idea of flow, movement, and dynamic growth, the focus of the overall design became curvilinear shapes and lines, mimicking the way ideas and information flow between AlphaSights’ nine global offices and between them and their clients the world over.

The main goal of the AlphaSights office design was to foster unity and connection, and to reflect the diverse and dynamic New York community. So, right off the elevator, they installed an arresting entrance. Nanometer’s NanoFlex Dual Bend Pixel Control fixtures, with their bendable silicone extrusion and 16.4’ run per leader cable, allows the curved ceiling panels to be fully illuminated. The RGBW, Pixel-Controlled LEDs allow for colors that inject a sense of energy and warmth into the space, serving as an introduction to the personality of the company. They also create a sense of harmony by mirroring the shapes of the furniture and wayfinding elements throughout the space, leading visitors along an intuitive path.

Further into the office, the curved shapes continue, unifying the space through form alongside the brand’s red-orange hue. Inside the meeting rooms, oblong NanoTex Shape fixtures provide overhead light and serve as a central focal point within the curved glass walls and corresponding lighting by BASO Lighting.

Tucked into the acoustic wall feature of this private room, the NanoFlex Dual Bend provides subtle ambient lighting for a softer, more diffused option than the directional wall sconces.

Inside the conference and meeting rooms, NanoTex Shape fixtures continue the theme with this custom oblong form. NanoTex Shape fixtures are custom crafted for each project, and can combine linear and curved elements. The concentric shapes of the recessed ceiling light, the curved glass wall, and the NanoTex Shape above the oblong desk create a self-contained node within a larger system, like the rings of a branch within a larger tree, or a topographical feature within a whole map, with the table — and the people around it — as the center. It also creates an inviting atmosphere, something echoed in the office’s cafe area, for people to gather, share, and communicate.

Inside, the surface-mounted NanoTex Shape mimics the shape of the conference table and reinforces the snug, communal feeling of the space.

This longer oblong NanoTex Shape also matches its accompanying table, and lends an organic feeling to an otherwise square-featured room.
