Junto Capital Management

Junto Capital Management needed a stylish and functional lighting scheme in the canteen area of their new, full-floor location on Madison Avenue. This space is used as an everyday gathering space for meetings and lunch, but also serves as the space for more special events. As such, they needed something that appeared timeless and subtle most of the time, but that could transform into something more striking if the need arose.

To get them everything they needed, Nanometer chose a selection of offerings and combined them to create a custom lighted environment that packaged customization and individualized control into an elegant, discreet design.

Looking at the canteen’s everyday appearance, its capacity to turn into a dramatic lighting event might come as a surprise. During the day, 12 NanoFloat Round fixtures are suspended from rigid single stems, the same ball-and-socket variety used in ceiling fans that allow the fixtures to sway safely while maintaining a clean and minimal look. The fixtures themselves are housed in aluminum architectural enclosures, an option for all Float fixtures, which provide the sleekest edge possible.

But the architectural enclosures do more than provide a more luxe-looking finish. Along the upper edge, the enclosure forms a slight lip above the back of the Float fixture. In the case of Junto, who wanted the option for more ambient lighting in addition to the Floats, this now does double duty to conceal the LED strips affixed to the back of the Floats. From the ground, they’re completely concealed — that is, until they’re turned on to reflect off the ceiling and provide an atmospheric glow throughout the room.

Both the Floats and the uplighting are equipped with RGBW LEDs, with each element being independently controlled via NanoControls for fully bespoke lighting configurations and programming. These controls also extend to the linear fixtures, by others, installed in the space, so, if needed, the programming can create a fully immersive environment.
