A major financial company in Washington, DC, wanted to create amorphic planes of recessed light that transcended the office’s glass barriers to unify their space. But there was a problem, and one that designers and architects run into all to frequently in the capital city: low ceiling plenum height.

But that’s just what Nanometer’s NanoFloat fixtures are for. At any frame depth option, even their Plus size, the fixtures never exceed 1” in depth.

That means Gensler Design and SBLD Studio were able to make the client’s vision come to life without sacrificing a thing. Nanometer provided these NanoFloat Shape fixtures, complete with custom mounting trays, for a striking lighting array that integrated perfectly with the existing Top Akustic ceiling. Dividing the organic shape into 8-inch panels was not only a stylistic choice that created a sense of dynamism, but also served to alleviate the weight stress of the fixtures.
