ProductNanoFleck and Arktura custom design, full integration of NanoControls

Architect: Ted Moudis

Lighting Consultant: Syska Hennessy

Project Type: Workspace

On opening its first New York office, American Equities was looking to make not only a great first impression, but also wanted to create an airy, tranquil environment. To create an elevated experience for all, they developed a new, refined aesthetic that focused on openness, airiness, and light and used that as a jumping-off point to design their new space. Taking cues from these concepts, Nanometer, together with Arktura, created a striking but calming entrance into the workspace.

The striking ceiling and wall panels that greet the visitor on entering the office combine the perforated aluminum panels of Arktura and the 4” on-center point LEDs of the static white, Pixel Control NanoFleck providing illumination behind. The main challenge was synchronizing the ceiling and wall systems so that a “waterfall” animation would seamlessly bridge both elements.

This project is entirely wired with NanoControls DBI (Dynamic Box Micro), Nanometer’s smallest PoE-powered data distribution model. This allowed for fewer and smaller driver enclosures while keeping the injection of data to each panel as straightforward as possible.

The NanoFleck is mounted behind Arktura panels creates a “sky” for the natural elements of the wood, stone, and the living moss wall with the new AEL logo incorporated into it. The animations are extremely subtle, ensuring that the space remains tranquil, but with unexpected visual interest. The patterns are reminiscent of clouds drifting by, dynamic but soothing.
